THIS year’s Party in the Park has been cancelled.

The organisers have told Melksham News that regretfully, they have had to cancel the popular event due to a shortage of volunteers.
“Sadly, it’s just not possible to organise the event in the time we’ve got,” said Bruce Burry, one of the committee members. “We are gutted as we really wanted to return this year after not being able to hold the event for the last two years.
“Planning for the event usually starts a year in advance but because of the uncertainty over Covid, we haven’t been able to do this. An now with the small number of people involved, we simply haven’t got time to plan such a large event. But we’re fully committed to bringing the Party in the Park back next year; we hope to see you all in 2023!
“We are very much in need of extra help; some key members of our team are having to do less so we do need extra volunteers to help. It’s really rewarding, helping to plan one of Melksham’s favourite events.

Monster Ball to go ahead
The Melksham Monster Ball, though, is going ahead.
“Yes, I can confirm that the Melksham Monster Ball will be returning this October,” said Bruce.
“The Halloween spook-tacular evening is planned for Saturday 29th October at Melksham Assembly Hall and will raise money for the Party in the Park.
“On offer will be halloween fun and games for all the family, a disco, spooky-style cafe, a fancy dress competition and live music. The event has sold out every year up to now and we’re hoping it will be the same this year. Watch out in Melksham News or the Assembly Hall website for full details when they are available.”
