Another switched venue saw Melksham travel to Pewsey Vale. A lively battle developed between both sides, Melksham gradually dominating the scrum, Vale disruptive at the line out.
The visitors were quickly up to pressure the home side try line, the ball whipped out quickly for winger Jonny Mills to touchdown out wide. Both teams fought hard and contested well for the next score, the home team pressurising the Melksham line, their defence held strong and Vale failed to get on the scoreboard. Another attack from the visitors flared with fly half Callum Hurn breaking the gain line, followed by good passing play between the backs for Adam Davies to step the defence and score his first. The visitors up 0–10 at half time.
This attritional game forced the visitors use their bench replacements early on, Sam Garner and Kieren Jenkins on in the first half but Melksham continued to overhaul the home team, Adam Davies striking out wide for his second of the day. Despite the effort of the home team the game looked to be secure when Ben Brown scored down his wing to bring the tally to 0 – 20 points.
The home weren’t done yet and took advantage of some confusion and rallied in the last quarter with relentless pressure scoring two quick tries and a conversion to get on the scoreboard. Final score 12-20.
