Plans for 275 new homes on land east of Blackmore Farm have been shared, with residents encouraged to give their views.
The public consultation by Gleeson Land seeks feedback on plans for a mix of housing types and sizes, with 30% proposed as affordable properties. The consultation is being held ahead of a planning application being submitted.
The development is proposed to adjoin a scheme of 500 houses on land at Blackmore Farm, off Sandridge Common, which was approved by Wiltshire Council last year. It would also adjoin houses on Lopes Close and Blackmore House to the north, with access to the site proposed via a new T-junction from Sandridge Common.
However, Melksham Without Parish Council has said the site is not allocated in the joint Melksham Neighbourhood Plan 2 or Wiltshire Council’s draft Local Plan.
The developer said the proposal offers an opportunity to address a shortfall in housing need in Wiltshire ‘through a high-quality, sustainably located, nature-driven scheme.’
