MELKSHAM’S young racing car driver, Jack Meakin, has been back on the track taking home another class win and a second-place win at Oulton Park in the Britcar Trophy on Saturday 27th May. He also qualified pole in class and had the fastest lap in both races.
Jack who is 18 years old, said, “Before the weekend I had driven Oulton Park for just one dry practice session, so to qualify a full second quicker than the field was amazing and to take another class win and two podiums is great for our championship. Daniel Jenkins from Hy Gym/ Master Charge (local businesses) provided me with simulator equipment two weeks ago and this enabled me to learn the track which helped me massively in my preparation!”
A spokesperson for Jack Meakin Racing said, “We were blessed with glorious summer sunshine all weekend at the circuit and the consistent, dry conditions really helped us to get to grips with the technical, challenging Oulton Park circuit. Prior to this race weekend, we had driven just one dry session at Oulton Park, so we still had a lot to learn!
“By the end of Friday practice our confidence was high and we were happy with the car heading into race day.”
Jack raced alongside his teammate Rhys, who is a Dragon Sport team owner from Carmarthen, South Wales.
