BEECHES Veterinary Centre will be hosting free Rabbit Retreat days next month in aid of Rabbit Awareness Week.
The petcare professionals will be offering a free day’s pampering for rabbits throughout April. The animals can be left at the surgery for the day, where they will have their nails clipped, fur groomed, a health check, and an application of fly strike protector Rearguard.
Beeches’ Jill Warner said, “The rabbit retreat days are a combination of grooming, preventative healthcare, and expert advice. We will check every animal to make sure it is in good health. One of our vets, Katie Thorpe, has over 20 years experience with rabbits and will be on hand to help people learn to look after their rabbits as well as possible.
“This is the first time we’ve done this; last year we saw a number of unhealthy rabbits incidences of fly strike, which can be painful and potentially fatal for rabbits. We think the rabbit retreat days will be the perfect opportunity to check all rabbits are in good health and to answer any questions owners might have.”
Veterinarian Katie Thorpe will also be an evening talk hosted on Thursday 7th May entitled ‘Bunny Banter – A Guide to Keeping Your Rabbit Running Smoothly’. It will begin at 7.15pm at the surgery. Places are limited so must again be booked via the surgery.
Rabbit retreat days and the talk will be free of charge, but the surgery ask that you make a £5 donation to Cotton Tails Rabbit Rescue of Westbury.
