LOCAL man Leigh Rogers has already surpassed his fundraising target of £2,000 for the London Marathon with three months still to go.
Leigh will be running the marathon for Meningitis Now in memory of Keiren Edney who died suddenly last year from meningitis.
Leigh organised a raffle last month at Cooper Tires and raised £1,906, bringing the total raised overall to £3,126.43. There were over 25 prizes donated by local businesses, including Tops Salon, Melksham Tandoori, Melksham Tyres, Shaw Country Hotel, Beechfield House Hotel, The Kings Arms and Travis Perkins Melksham.
Leigh said, “I would like to say a massive thank you to the companies that have been so generous in donating prizes, also a huge thank you to everyone who bought raffle tickets. Raising £1,906 is a tremendous effort; all for an extremely special cause.
“Local primary schools have said they will have a collection for me which I’m hugely grateful for.
“I’m also looking for sponsorship from local businesses. If they would like to make a generous donation to the charity, I will put their business name on my t-shirt for the race. If this is something that a business would be interested in, please contact me on 07881 296144 or leighrogers8@hotmail.co.uk”
