Melksham boxer Brad Scott looks set for a rematch of what fight experts called “one of the fights of the year.”
The judges couldn’t separate Brad Scott and Kevin Greenwood after five blood-soaked rounds of bareknuckle boxing at the O2 Arena on Saturday 29th July.
The result means Brad keeps his British cruiserweight title and both fighters agreed they should fight again, a decision that should please fight fans.
Robin Reid, the former Olympic bronze medallist and WBC super-middleweight champion, said the five-round fight had, “everything . . . blood, guts, courage. It has to be one of the fights of the year.”
Sports reporter Matt Bozeat told Melksham News, “Of the two fighters, Brad possibly has more reason to feel aggrieved with the judges’ decision.
“Though he suffered a cut to the bridge of his nose and a bloodied mouth in the opening round, Brad landed some good combinations throughout the fight. He opened a bad cut under Kevin Greenwood’s left eye in the second and the Iford fighter had to hold after shipping a right hand to the chin in the fourth.
“Brad landed a similar punch in the last, the best shot of the round, and Greenwood admitted afterwards, “I felt every single one of those punches. I tried to outwork him but he kept hitting me hard. That was the hardest fight I’ve ever had.”
