FOLLOWING on from the success of the October inaugural market which saw fantastic numbers of visitors braving Storm Alex, The Atworth Artisan is set to return on 1st November; even bigger and better.
The organisers report, “This is a new creative event in Wiltshire, showcasing local artists, craftspeople and designers from across the county. On show will be a carefully selected mix of stallholders selling handmade goods, jewellery, ceramics, artworks, flowers, unusual gifts and homewares, plus seasonal extras.
“The Atworth Artisan is free to attend and conveniently set up alongside the White Hart pub so visitors also have the option of an excellent Sunday lunch before or after visiting the market stalls = the perfect Sunday outing!
“For the November market, we will feature a number of outdoor market stalls as well as our new ‘Atworth Artisan Shop’. The shop is an indoor shopping experience, showcasing micro businesses and new artisans who need some support to bring their products to customers. Without the need to invest in a full market set-up; the shop enables a range of previously unseen artisans to share their work.
“Each market features a ‘community element’, with space given to a local community group.
“A raffle will be running as part of the market with donations from each of the stalls, as well as a fabulous signed Bath Rugby shirt to be won. All proceeds are donated to a different charity each month. In November we will be raising money to support homelessness projects, including the Hope Centre in Chippenham and The Doorway Project in North Wiltshire.
“The event is open to visitors from 11am to 4pm. Fresh coffee and snacks also available on site from 11am.
“Masks are not mandatory at the outdoor market but will be required in the ‘shop’. Hand sanitiser will be available and signage providing informing and reiterating social distancing measures. We will be closely following the government guidelines and should circumstances change and further restrictions be imposed, then we will of course take the necessary precautions and notify all involved.
“Free parking and toilet facilities available at the Leafield Industrial Estate in Atworth.
“With November’s event we will be supporting micro business, new artists and giving a helping hand to fantastically talented people who are finding life difficult during Covid-19.
“With the theme ‘nurture’ we will be supporting local business owners who will otherwise be struggling as well as sharing our space with the Melksham Shed Community Group.
“The Shed is a community group which offers a safe and supportive space for men and women to meet, gather and spend time crafting. In doing so, they support better wellbeing and produce some lovely items which they share, in return for donations to the charity. Crafting is recognised to be a valuable tool in improving general wellbeing and mental wellness; so important at this difficult time.
“The Shed members will be joining us to display some of their handmade designs and to share information about their group for anyone who might need some kindness and support.”
