Melksham Cricket Club’s second ever charity day proved to be a roaring success, raising £500 for the charity Evie’s Gift.
The day saw the club welcome an invitational XI from various clubs in Wiltshire, gathered by former club member, AJ Hobbs. Fielding a team themselves of their own club members, the Melksham side came off a firm second best on the day, losing by a margin of 112-runs thanks in large part to an unbeaten century from opening batsman, Josh Sutton.
Evie’s Gift is a charity which seeks to support the parents of children who have been admitted to hospital with life changing or life-threatening conditions, assisting them by providing local accommodation whilst also providing food and covering travelling cost; hopefully giving parents less to worry about during exceedingly stressful times.
The club says it is proud to be able to donate such a large sum for a worthwhile cause and looks forward to hopefully raising more money for other charitable foundations in seasons to come. For more details about Evie’s Gift visit www.eviesgift.org.uk
