MELKSHAM’S Rotary Art House Cafe was visited by the Rotary President for Great Britain & Northern Ireland, Peter King.
The visit came about when he met a member of Melksham’s Rotary Club at a Hope and Homes Conference in Salisbury. After hearing about all the work that the Rotary had done at the Art House Cafe, Peter King specifically asked that the Melksham’s Art House Cafe should be included in his official visit to District 1200 in April.
The Melksham President, Steve Fivash, warmly welcomed Peter King and the District Governor Judy Barnard-Jones who accompanied him on the visit.
Steve Fivash said, “I explained all the work that was being done by the club, and the volunteer staff, with a rota so ably managed by Tessa Missen.
“I told him about how the Art House Cafe came to be set up by the Melksham club and about how the astonishing sum of over £40,000 was raised for the local community in just four years.”
The RIBI President then expressed his appreciation of the club’s work, before presenting President Steve with his official banner and receiving on of the club’s newly designed banners incorporating the stone archway at the entrance to the Art House Cafe.
“It was an opportunity to meet the managers and volunteers who spoke enthusiastically of their work,” continued Steve Fivash.
“The warm welcoming atmosphere was quickly evident and the visitors were also impressed by the range and quality of the artwork on display. It was a fitting occasion during the club’s celebration of its 50th anniversary.
