Santa Claus is coming to Melksham on Sunday 13th December.
Graham Ellis, on behalf of TransWilts Community Rail Partnership explains, “Train trips from Melksham Station at 14:45 and 16:45 – an hour on the train, with presents from Santa, a soft drink (which adults may swap for a complimentary glass of wine), minced pies … and of course the thrill of a train trip – we’re going to Swindon and back.
“Tickets – £10 adult, £5 child – on sale at Melksham TIC from Monday 26th October. There will only be a limited number of tickets to ensure that everyone has plenty of space and that Santa has plenty of time to see everyone!
“Remember – trains now run from Melksham to Swindon every day. The journey takes less than half an hour, with first departures from Melksham at 07:19, 07:48 and 10:03 on Monday to Friday, at 07:47, 08:37 and 10:00 on Saturday, and at 10:44 and 12:44 on Sundays.
“Return trains run from Swindon at 15:14, 17:36, 18:52 and 20:12 (Monday to Friday), 16:05, 18:02, 20:37 and 21:23 on Saturdays and 15:28, 17:28 and 19:55 on Sundays. Peak adult return fare is £9.40, children half price, and lower prices off peak / with rail cards.
“Swindon Station is within easy walking distance of the town, the outlet centre, Steam and the Oasis leisure centre.
And if you live on the ‘other side’ of Melksham from the station, remember that car parking at Melksham station is free, and that buses x72, 271 and 272 pass close by the station.
“The Santa trip is organised by the Melksham Railway Development Group, using an additional carriage added to the train by Great Western Railway for our exclusive use.
“The trip is now in its 17th year – and we look forward to seeing mums and dads who came along in the early days to see Santa bringing THEIR children!”
