Melksham travelled to Sutton Benger rfc for their third away game on the trot. They were first on the score board after a few minutes, with a well struck penalty from scrum-half Callum Hurn.
The visitors continued to apply the pressure in a strongly-contested game. Fly half Rory Mulgrew collecting the ball, hacked on to score, with Hurn adding the extras. Powerful attacks from the home team stopped dead on the gain line by defending centres Connor Randall and Callum Gillard. Melksham regained territory and continued pressure from the pack on the line, which resulted in Alex Cox powering over against strong defence. In the closing minutes of the half Jacek Gronkowski, timing his run perfectly, intercepted a pass and ran 50m in to score, Hurn again adding the extras. Half-time visitors 0-22 up.
The start of the second-half saw the tables reversed in quick order. Two quick tries from the home team, capitalising on their passing skills, put 12 points on the board. Despite a very strong contest for the remainder of the game, the score was to remain the same, with both teams working hard in a very competitive game.
