A TEAM of staff, parents and pupils from Seend Church of England School took part in the London Bridge Challenge raising over £5,000 for Diabetes UK.
Year 4 pupil Rhys Lythell was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes earlier this year and must routinely check his blood sugar levels and have insulin injections regularly throughout the day.
To show support, headteacher Jackie Chalk at Seend School signed up to take part in the London Bridge Challenge – a 10 mile walk across London’s 13 bridges – to raise money for Diabetes UK.
A team of 50 friends, family and staff from Seend School completed the challenge to show that Diabetes does not have to stop you leading a full and active life, if managed properly.
Rhys said, “It was a fantastic walk. Everybody enjoyed it and we raised lots of money for Diabetes UK. It didn’t feel like 10 miles!”
