Members gathered at the Shaw Village Hall at 7.30pm for the May meeting, which featured Mr Paul Jupp from the firm “Meadow in my Garden”.
He explained how sowing a wild flower garden helps bio-diversity which is good for the environment as it provides food and habitat for birds, animals and insects.
Wild flowers have the power to nourish the land through sustainable planting, maintained with once-a-year mowing. Paul showed the audience many slides of beautiful wild flower gardens.
Preceding the talk the President reviewed the visit to Leekes store in Melksham on the 9th May, when eleven members attended a day of activity, which included designing a room for a member of Royalty, in honour of the Queen’s 90th Birthday.
The annual resolutions for the National Federation were voted upon. The President and some members attended the AGMs of CONNECT and the Reading Rooms.
The next meeting will be held at the Shaw Village Hall on Monday 13th June when Val Proctor will speak on the subject of “Bless this Child”. Visitors are always most welcome.
