Andy York Photography is hosting a silent auction to raise money for national charity, Help For Heroes.
The local photography shop, based in the Littlebrook Centre, is auctioning canvas artwork produced by Andy to commemorate last year’s 75th anniversary of D-Day – the artwork was part of a special commemorative window display at the shop last year. The artwork features the quote, “At the going down of the sun and in the morning we shall remember them…” – a line from the poem ‘For the Fallen’ by Laurence Binyon.
Talking to Melksham News, Christine York said, “To bid in the silent auction, people can come to the shop to write down their bid on a piece of paper, or they can email their bid to enq@andyyorkphotography.co.uk.
“The auction is now open and will run until Saturday 15th August, which will be the 75th anniversary of VJ Day, which Andy’s dad fought in. VJ Day marks both the surrender of Japan and the end of the Second World War.”
Help for Heroes is a charity that provides lifelong support to service personnel and military veterans with injuries, illnesses and wounds sustained while serving in the British Armed Forces.
