Over 100 runners braved the rain for the eleventh running of the Foxtrot 5 race at Broughton Gifford organised by Stampede Sports.
Two-time winner Simon Nott of Calne Running Club added a third title to his collection, taking victory in twenty five minutes and twenty eight seconds, just seven seconds outside of his own course record and with Michael Towler of Avon Valley Runners nearly a minute behind and club mate Bart Thomas finishing in third, this helped Calne Running Club to a famous victory over their rivals from Trowbridge, with Luke Shipway being the third scorer.
In the ladies race Fiona Price of Avon Valley Runners swapped the sun of Lyon where she had competed in the World Masters championships for the rain of Wiltshire to lead home the field in a swift thirty one minutes thirty two seconds on her debut at the Foxtrot. In her wake was the regular participant Denise Grech of Calne Running Club and with Anita Mellodew in third and Kate Hails in fourth place meant that the ladies’ team prize came back to Trowbridge once again.
Age group awards were presented to: 1st MV40 – Mike Dooley of Team Bath; 1st MV50 – Steve Hale of Team Bath; 1st MV60 – Peter Allen of Corsham Running Club; 1st FV40 – Helen King of Town & Country Harriers; 1st FV50 – Susan Sidney of Team Bath; 1st FV60 – Margaret Thompson of South West Vets.
