THE final round of the N G Road Racing championships were held at Thruxton in Hampshire earlier this month and in dry weather conditions Russell Hynes qualified in fourth place for his 7 lap final in the Metzeler 700cc streetstock race on his 675cc Triumph.
He made a good start and crossed the line in third place and finished in 12th place in the championship standings. Mark Birkett finished in 15th place in his pre injection 700cc race on his CBR 600cc Honda and 16th in the standings in only his second full season of racing. Broughton Gifford’s sidecar driver Andy King and Anne Garnish competed on their Bell on the Common backed F2 Honda powered outfit. They qualified fourth and finished in fourth overall and competed against the F1 1000cc outfits and were second F2 outfit across the line.
Darrell Higgins was helping his son Travis Vince who was again riding his dads T Z 250cc Yamaha in the N G Cup class of the ACU 250GP National championship race. Travis put in some smooth and consistent laps and finished his 15 minute qualifying session in 12th place overall and 3rd in the N G Cup Class.
The first part of the ten lap race was red flagged and in the seven lap restart Vince slid off his machine when he took to the grass but walked away unhurt and was fifth in this seasons N G Cup championship.
