“Forty-ONE years in service for the people of Melksham, your Lions Club has had a roller coaster year,” says Lions member Peter Dauncey.
“With the retirement of some long serving members and the introduction of new ones, we have had fresh input which will take the club forward enabling us to continue with our work within the local community.
“During 2015 we have engaged in assisting a local base for the temporary homeless, with emergency packs of essential items.
“We have supported many local charities and Lions International in several worldwide disaster appeals.
“We are grateful for the support given to us by the Melksham Air Training Corps and are pleased that many of their members have joined the Lions incentive of Young Leaders in Service.
“We once again enjoyed our annual fundraising event with the Maesteg Choir Concert at the Assembly Hall. We will be changing venue for the concert next year to the Spencers Club.
“Our continued work in the community relies on Lion members who are all volunteers. We are always looking for new members and would welcome anyone who is interested in the work we do within the community to contact us or perhaps come along to one of our monthly meetings at the Pilot, Bowerhill on the first Tuesday of each month.
“Lastly a big thank-you to all those who have supported our charity collections, we are mindful that in donating and helping those in need it is your money we are spending. Not one penny is taken out in expenses or charges.”
