A range of activities for children and families will take place across Melksham during the school summer holidays.
Working with local organisations, Melksham Town Council has put together a programme including film screenings, canoe taster sessions, scooter and skateboard events, circus skills in King George V Park and a range of sports sessions at venues across the town.
“The activities ensure there are regular opportunities for families to stay active, social and engaged throughout the summer,” said a council spokesperson.
Canoe taster sessions
Free canoe taster sessions will take place at the Adventure Centre, offering young people the chance to try canoeing under professional instruction. All equipment is provided.
Sessions will run on Monday 27th July, Friday 31st July, Friday 14th August and Monday 17th August, all from 10am to 12pm.

Scooter and skateboard events
A free programme delivered by ATBShop will offer scooter and skateboard sessions at the skate park in King George V Playing Fields. The events include games, workshops and competitions.
They will run on Wednesday 29th July and Wednesday 12th August from 11am to 3pm.
No booking is required.
Children eligible for free school meals can register for the FUEL programme via Wiltshire Council to receive a free lunch at the events.
Circus skills
A circus skills session with Mr Bert will include a live show followed by a workshop for children to learn tricks.
The event will run on Wednesday 12th August from 2pm to 4pm in King George V Playing Fields.
No booking is required, with workshop places allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Us Girls sessions
Weekly sessions aimed girls aged 11 and above will focus on keeping active and trying new sports, including rugby tasters, bootcamp with Energym, football, Park Yoga and gym sessions. Sessions are free but booking is required.

Family film screenings Melksham Assembly Hall
Film screenings will take place at Melksham Assembly Hall every Thursday from 30th July to 27th August, excluding 13th August.
Screenings will run at 10am for SEN audiences and 2pm for family audiences. Films cannot be listed due to licensing restrictions.

Free Football Fridays
The Future of Football Free Football Fridays are open to girls and boys of all abilities aged six to 12 years old.
The event will run on 7th and 21st August from 10am to 2pm in the King George V Playing Fields.

Wiltshire Wildlife Trust Natures Wonders
There will be nature-themed arts and crafts in the King George V Playing Fields with Wiltshire Wildlife Trust on 11th and 17th August from 11am to 3pm.
Friday Light Live
Melksham Town Council’s monthly live music event will return to the Market Place on the last Friday of each month.
The next events will take place on Friday 31st July and Friday 28th August from 6pm.
