PARENTS worried about how to keep their children occupied over the upcoming summer holidays can breathe a sigh of relief – with a whole host of activities and events in the local area, there’s no excuse for your child to moan that they’re ‘bored’!
There are trips to the seaside, sporting activities in the park, a fairy and dinosaur wonderland to explore, a jam-packed schedule of events at Young Melksham and free swimming at Blue Pool for children under 16 – so much to do, you’ll be wishing the school holidays were longer! (Well, maybe that’s taking things a little too far)
For children aged 9 to 16, local organisation Young Melksham will be running their usual clubs throughout the holidays, alongside extra sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. And if that wasn’t enough, the group have organised exciting trips to Weymouth, the Jurassic Coast, and Splashdown in Poole.
For children aged 5 to 11 in Seend and Shaw, Wiltshire Council is hosting their free ‘Fun in the Sun’ multi-sport events in August. With high quality multi-sports coaching on offer, kids can enjoy 90-minute sessions of outdoor games, activities and sports.
If you are looking for something the whole family can do, Vision Tours are offering ‘Kids Go Free’ trips to sunny (hopefully) Bournemouth. One child under the age of 14 goes free with a full paying adult. There are two trips planned on Monday 6th August and Wednesday 8th August.
Over at Blue Pool, children under 16 can swim for free during the holidays in their ‘Just Swim for under 16s’ sessions. Simply register your child at reception and watch them pass away the hours splashing around in the pool.
Young explorers can venture to the land of Fairies & Dinosaurs at Whitehall Garden Centre for a magical adventure. Up until mid-September, visitors can take photos with unicorns and dinosaurs and create magical memories for all the family.
