Local charity, Evie’s Gift, is inviting people to take part in a sponsored walk along the Jurassic Coast next month to raise money for the charity’s work.
The charity, which was set up in memory of Melksham teenager Evie Clover, who died in January last year after being diagnosed with a brain tumour at the age of 13, is offering the choice of two walks, 13 miles or 13km (8 miles), depending on a person’s fitness level.
Organisers say, “This year, ‘Evie’s Jurassic 13’ will take place on Saturday 18th May, and will involve two circular walks starting and finishing at Charmouth Beach where there will be a fossil hunt with prizes for the best fossils found.
“The first circular walk is 13 miles and has some steep climbs, heading inland initially before heading back to the coast and taking you up to the top of Golden Cap and its spectacular views up and down the coast.
“A shorter, and less demanding 13km (8 mile) walk is also available should you choose to walk something a little easier.
“Once again, there will be bright pink ‘Evie’s Jurassic 13’ polo shirts and one will be included in your registration fee. We’d also like you to fundraise via Just Giving or Virgin Money Giving to raise some funds for our work.
“Your registration fee of £12 per adult and £8 per child will include: An Evie’s Jurassic 13 polo shirt; copy of the map of your route; and water for the walk.
“The aim is to have a picnic on or near the beach after the walk.”
