A GROUP of fitness enthusiasts who train at a local gym in Bowerhill, have completed their cycle ride from London to Paris in the space of three days, raising almost £3,600 for charity.
Nine people led by their personal trainer, DJ Hussey, owner of New Era Fitness in Bowerhill, cycled approximately 160 miles from Big Ben in London to the Eiffel Tower in Paris for Wiltshire-based charity Splash.
“We had such an amazing time on our cycle to France, three days absolutely full to the brim with equal parts adventure and sore bums,” said DJ.
“We all made it in one piece and without any real issues. We only suffered two punctures and a couple of little falling over incidents, but other than that we couldn’t have asked for a smoother ride.
“At the bottom of the Eiffel Tower waiting as ever were our absolutely incredible support crew, Alison Hale and Steve Whiting, who helped make this challenge possible. Without them organising us day to day and going the extra mile to make our on and off bike time run as smoothly as possible, we would have found this challenge a whole lot harder. They were absolutely amazing!
“We were spurred on the whole time by the sheer generosity of everyone at home who has been so incredibly generous in supporting our trip by way of contribution to our chosen charity, Splash Wiltshire.
“We had set out to raise a goal of £1,800 in support of Splash but our current estimates put us at nearly (and possibly even more than) double that! We are so over the moon with this and are so grateful to everyone. We know that money will go a long way to helping children right here in Wiltshire who really need it – so thank you all so much.”
The Mighty Titans team in full were: Michael Smith, Rich Hayes, George Penny, Judith Greenman, Amy Greenman, Ben Bradshaw, Rachel Bradshaw, Sam Gooding, Dawn Whiting and DJ Hussey.
The Might Titans’s charity of choice, Splash, provides specifically designed and highly structured, free, out-of-school activities for around 250 young people each year in Wiltshire.
