A popular taxi company in Melksham is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and is offering all regular customers a free journey when they reach their 25th taxi ride.
Paul’s Taxi was started in 1999 by Paul Carter senior, initially as the Freephone Taxi. In 2001, Paul’s son, Paul Carter junior, joined the company that became Paul’s Freephone Taxi. Paul junior took over in December 2015 when Paul senior retired.
“We became Paul’s Taxis after, amongst other things, mobile phone contracts stopped covering the cost of free phone calls for customers,” explains Paul junior.
“Over the years we have taken people across the country; I can think of one time when we had an overnight stay somewhere because we took a family to a long-distance funeral. Nowadays we just keep things local.
“During the past 25 years we have had the pleasure of having Charles Clark, Steve Downs, my late Uncle David Carter, Martin Webb and for the last eight years Dave Parsons driving with us.
“Thank you to all my customers past, present and fingers crossed for the future; thanks to the special few customers who have been with us right from the start.”
