IT’S not been the best start to the season for Melksham Town with only four wins, and assistant manager, Luke Ballinger, says the season hasn’t really started for them yet.
A depleted squad continues to take its toll on Town with only four wins in 12 games, and Kieran Baggs’ side can’t seem to get going this season.
“It’s been horrendous, I’d like to just forget the last few weeks because we’ve just been so poor. We haven’t stepped up and delivered and it’s unacceptable,” Luke said.
“Yes we’ve struggled with injuries and unavailability but there’s only so many times you can use that as an excuse. We just haven’t been good enough and we need to show more character.
“Brislington was very disappointing. It wasn’t a great game and they didn’t play that well either, but they took their chances and we didn’t.
“We went behind in the first half but came back with an equaliser soon after. We held on and needed the first half to end, but we switched off and made a stupid mistake and went behind just before the end of the first half. Then in the second half we just didn’t do enough and the chances we had, we didn’t take.
“Willand was much of the same thing – we didn’t take our chances. We had a poor start and didn’t show great character.
“At half time, there were a few strong words from myself and Kieran and the lads came out stronger and managed to get back into the game, but it was too little too late and we were pleased to just get a point.
“The season hasn’t started for us yet and it’s unacceptable. We have the ability and the talent, but at the moment confidence is low and we need a few wins under out belt to get us going again.”
