A TEAM of volunteers at Coppershell Farm Sanctuary in Gastard are skydiving to raise money for the charity that looks after over 160 farmed, abandoned or unwanted animals.
Diane Wood and Lawrence Pike from Melksham and Jade Foster from Devizes, all volunteers at the farm, will be skydiving at the Army Parachute Association’s Netheravon camp on Sunday 14th July, in the hope of raising money to continue the work of the sanctuary.
Coppershell Farm Sanctuary is run by Genna and Matthew Acourt and relies on the public’s donations for funding.
Diane Wood said, “None of us have ever skydived before. We are all feeling very nervous, but excited, as the day of the jump gets closer! We are totally committed to completing the jump as we believe strongly in the cause. We are using each other as moral support and confidence boosting.
“We are all volunteers at the farm, that’s how we all met. We help with mucking out, caring for the animals, replenishing hay and water, giving cuddles and interacting with the animals.
“I have seen the sanctuary grow in the last year from just a few chickens and a couple of lambs into over 160 animals. The sanctuary offers a refuge for farm animals whether they are at the end of their financial usefulness, or where for any reason they are unable to be cared for.”
