A record field of 120 runners lined up on The Common in Broughton Gifford for the Great Chalfield 10K run, organised by Stampede Sports on behalf of Broughton Gifford & Holt Scout Group.
First to complete the picturesque, undulating and certified accurate 10-kilometre course which passes Holt Manor and Great Chalfield House, was Damion Hall of Corsham Running Club who took victory in 36:12 from Gary Eagle of Frome Running Club and Broughton Gifford resident Tom Gurney.
Denise Grech of Calne Running Club successfully defended her ladies title with a time of 39:29 leaving Caroline Rea of Frome Running Club in second and Kate Hails of Avon Valley Runners in third.
Age group prizes went to: 1st MV40 – Alex Gaskell of Thames Hares & Hounds; 1st MV50 – Gary Hughes of Team Bath AC; 1st FV40 – Ali Atkinson of Avon Valley Runners; 1st FV50 – Lindsay Limb of Leicestershire. Full results can be found at www.stampedesports.co.uk
