A youth football tournament has been hailed a ‘massive success’ after 160 teams descended on the pitches of Bowerhill Sports Field at a two-day event.
The tournament, hosted by Future of Football (FOF), saw girls and boys aged six to 16 from across the region take part.
The FOF team say a standout highlight of the weekend was the introduction of the Under-6s category, where the youngest players took part in their first-ever 3v3 match experience.
Director of Coaching Curtis Goodwin said, “The fast-paced round-robin format ensured the mini-players got plenty of touches on the ball, keeping smiles on faces and energy levels high.”

The team has thanked the community and local sponsors who made the event possible.
Curtis said, “A special thank you to Knorr-Bremse of Melksham, who generously opened up their car park to attendees over the weekend, a crucial logistical lifeline that the event simply could not have gone ahead without. Another big thank you to Melksham Without Parish Council, which is hugely supportive of the football club and its events.
“Our parent volunteers are hugely appreciated, without them we wouldn’t be able to put on the event. We also had lots of young players and siblings helping out with litter picking, which was great to see.”
Chairman of Future of Football FC, Daniel Webb, said, “The goal is always for the young people to enjoy the game playing with friends, and it feels like we definitely achieved that.”
