THERE’S an exciting line-up planned for the weeks ahead at Melksham’s Assembly Hall with the town’s first Pride Festival, a succulent plant sale, a roller disco and a night of reggae music.
The venue play’s host to the very first Melksham Pride Festival on Sunday 12th June, from 10am to 5pm.
Organisers say, “Melksham’s inaugural Pride event is a gigantic celebration of the local LGBTQIA+ community with stalls, live music, cabaret, magic and more! £3 entry on the door for adults. Under 16s go free. Head to www.proudmelksham.com for more details.” (Read full story on page 2)
On Saturday 18th June, the British Cactus & Succulent Society Annual Show will have an abundance of cacti, garden plants, Bonsai, and much more on display. The show is open 11am to 3.30pm. £1 entry; accompanied kids free.
On Sunday 19th June it’s time to get your skates on for the Melksham Roller Disco. There will be two sessions: 2pm to 3.30pm and 4pm to 5.30pm.
Organisers say, “Join us for skating fun, games and great music, hosted by our volunteer marshal team who work hard so you can skate safely. Bring your own skates or borrow ours – hire skates and safety kit (strongly recommended!) are included in the ticket price. This is a family skating session for all ages and abilities. Look forward to seeing you on eight wheels very soon!”
On Friday 1st July, the Assembly Hall will be celebrating the ‘International day of Reggae’ with One Love Reggae Night! featuring three of the finest and very best veteran Reggae DJ’s on the circuit: DJ Mister M, Rubba Ranx and Super T.
Organisers say, “Expect a special night of total reggae niceness, and to hear classic reggae from back in the day including Jamaican Ska, Studio One, the finest in old and new reggae and ragga, all in a one love deadly combination. This is a big people dance, over 25’s only. Dress to impress!”
Also coming up in the months ahead is ‘December ’63: O What a Night!’ – celebration of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons – on Friday 8th July; Dolly Parton – The Rags to Rhinestones Story on Saturday 9th July; and the Melksham Record Fair on Saturday 16th July.
