One of Whitley Golf Club’s junior golfers will bid to become national champion after she won a competition that will now see her play at one of the most famous golf courses in the world, St. Andrews.
Laura, 10, won the Wee Wonders regional qualifier at Rhondda Golf Club in Wales, and has qualified for the Grand Final being held at St. Andrews, Scotland. The final is over two days on the weekend of 23rd/24th August, on the Balgove course, adjacent to the Old Course.
Laura will be competing against other regional winners to become National Champion and secure a place on the GB & Ireland Junior Team for the World Junior Golf Championship.
Wee Wonders is the only tournament with full national coverage for ages five-12 year olds and is GB & Ireland’s longest running junior event.
Laura has been playing golf for two years. She lives in Shaw and attends the local school that is adjacent to Whitley Golf Club. She has been a member of Whitley Golf Club for the past year and a half and has been coached by PGA Professional Rob Morris, at Whitley, who provides excellent grounding for junior golfers.
The club wishes her every success.
