WILTSHIRE Air Ambulance celebrated Air Ambulance Week 2023 by visiting Melksham market on Tuesday 5th September.
Volunteers from the lifesaving charity were at the market, held in the Market Place, from 8am to 1pm, with a merchandise stall and a bucket collection for donations.
Air Ambulance Week ran from 4th to 10th September and is a national campaign to highlight the importance of the UK’s 21 air ambulance charities.
The charity hosted guided tours and afternoon tea with the crew at its airbase in Melksham during the week, and held a book reading and its own Market Day featuring local sellers.
The charity also went across the county visiting Waitrose in Salisbury, Marlborough Market, Bradford-on-Avon Market and Goatfest in Calne.
WAA representatives were also present for Uniform Services Day in Trowbridge and the Corsham Street Fair.
Air Ambulance Week concluded with 23 people taking part in a Skydive over Old Sarum in Salisbury to raise funds for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Each year Wiltshire Air Ambulance has to raise £4 million to keep the air ambulance flying and saving lives; that’s the equivalent of around £11,000 a day.
