TWENTY of Wiltshire Council’s adult and children’s social workers have been recognised in the British Association of Social Workers (BASW) national awards.
BASW launched ‘Amazing Social Workers’ during World Social Work Month as a collective celebration of all social work. Each day throughout March, BASW has featured the amazing work of social workers across Britain on their website. From Wiltshire 13 adult social care and seven children’s social workers have been shortlisted. They will be featured on the BASW website from Tuesday 30th March and will appear in the social media campaign #WeAreWilts promoting the work of social workers.
Dr Ruth Allen, CEO at the British Association of Social Workers (BASW), said, “It’s been an immensely challenging year for social workers, who have become one of the ‘forgotten frontlines’ during the pandemic. Too often, the tireless and selfless efforts of social workers go unnoticed. That’s why, as part of our ‘World Social Work Month’ activities, we launched the Amazing Social Worker campaign, which is a celebration of our colleagues and our profession.
“Each Amazing Social Worker has a dedicated web profile on the BASW website, which includes a picture, a special graphic for social media – as well as some lovely testimonials from colleagues. We’re delighted to recognise and champion Amazing Social Workers both at Wiltshire Council and across the UK.”
Lucy Townsend, Corporate Director for People said, “Congratulations to our Children’s and Adults’ Social Workers who have been shortlisted as Amazing Social Workers by the British Association of Social workers. I am enormously proud that so many of Wiltshire’s hard working social workers have been recognised nationally for the amazing work that they do. Whether working with adults or families and their children, our social workers strive to make a real difference to the lives of people in Wiltshire, working alongside them to help them achieve the outcomes that are important to them.”
