A local group bringing women together in a relaxed, supportive environment is celebrating its first anniversary this month.
The Sundaze Club launched in September last year, with local women Becky and Kadie organising monthly meet-ups and activities for women in their 20s and 30s
Since launching, the group has held a variety of events including brunches, bingo, exercise classes, days out and walks.
Becky said, “It has flown by so quickly and I can’t believe just how much we’ve done in the year. We have tried to do lots of different events. Every last Sunday of the month we leave it open for going to bingo at Spoons in town. That can be a casual event that people can go to if they fancy it.
“Once a month, we plan a fixed event where it’ll be something like a dog walk or a spa day. We’ve even done fitness sessions collaborating with CrossFit Devizes as well.”
The first event attracted around 20 women and Becky said the group has since seen many members return regularly, while new people continue to join.
Becky said, “It has been a great way to meet like-minded people and it is a lovely group of girls. There are a lot of core people that come back every time and then we have new people join every now and again, which is lovely. We have nearly 60 people in our WhatsApp group.
“What has also been really nice is seeing the girls who come branch out and make their own friendships and plans outside of the club. Everyone just gets on; it’s a no pressure space. We switch it up and do different things and the last thing that we did was we went for a fun day out in Bath. We went to the Cosy Club for brunch, got some bubble tea then looked around the shops.”
To mark the first anniversary, the group is heading back to where it first met for brunch at The Bear in Melksham on Sunday 13th September from 12pm to 2pm.
The group will also meet for another brunch at Doubles at Avonside on Sunday 11th October at 12pm.
Becky said, “We just really want to put on a variety of things that people ask for. If anyone wants to join us, they can just contact via Instagram and then be added to our WhatsApp group if they would like.”
