Melksham Oak sixth-form student, Amy Dobbin, has gained a work experience placement at the Co-op’s public relations department in Manchester.
Sixteen-year-old Amy hopes to pursue a career in public relations or media and spent time at the retailer’s Angel Square support centre – an office which was declared the world’s most environmentally friendly when it was opened by the Queen in 2013.
As part of the four-day placement with the retailer’s award-winning press office, Amy explored areas as diverse as product development, photography, social media and even compostable carrier bags.
Amy, who studies English literature, sociology and history at Melksham Oak School said,“This has been a fantastic opportunity, giving an extensive insight into the world of public relations.
“Not only have I learnt a great deal, but I have gained vital experience that I know I will remember forever. It has assisted me in figuring out my future life-choices and the team have been so friendly and helpful, supporting me with this.”
