THREE friends are preparing to jump out of a plane from 10,000ft high for charity – and two of them have a fear of flying!
Charlotte Paskin, Sarah Badger and Joe Hargreaves, who all met at Melksham’s Music and Drama club (MMAD), will be taking part in the skydive in June to raise money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Speaking to Melksham News, Charlotte said, “The air ambulance has helped people that we know and is a really worthwhile cause. They don’t get funding and rely on public donations – it costs a ridiculous amount of money for one flight to save a person’s life. So we want to do our bit to help.
“All three of us have pledged that on top of all donations that we raise, we are each going to pay £100 to boost the final total!
“We are also taking part in the skydive for other reasons – Joe and I will be taking part to face our fear of flying. Joe and I are not looking forward to it, we are both terrified of flying, let alone jumping out of a plane! Joe is even more scared than I am; he will be comical to watch on the day – he’s not very excited.
“For Sarah, it’s something to tick off her bucket list – she’s turning 30 this year and wanted to do something to mark the occasion. She is very excited and looking forward to it.
“However, on the day I imagine it will take a lot of encouragement from the instructors to get us to jump – it will be a test for us all. I don’t think it’s that easy to jump out of a plane from 10,000 feet!”
