One of the country’s most talented young violinists will appear at St Michael’s Church in Melksham this Saturday, 2nd July.
17-year-old Katherine Stonham, the current Wiltshire Young Musician of the Year, will feature in a concert to be given by the Philomel Singers and the Wiltshire Sinfonia from 7.30pm.
Katherine will play two Violin Concertos by Bach in the concert in aid of Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Katherine presently represents the county in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and attends John of Gaunt School in Trowbridge.
She has already had many musical successes and is equally gifted as a pianist; she passed her diploma examinations in both instruments three years ago.
Katherine will be performing alongside the Philomel Singers who wil present their concert, ‘Flying Free’ in aid of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance. The programme will include a wide range of genres, from gospel to modern, so there is something for everyone.
The Philomel Singers perform at three or four concerts every year to raise money for local and national charities and are proud to have raised over £30,000 to date. Recent beneficiaries include Julia’s House, The Royal British Legion, Children’s Hospice South West, Dorothy House, and Help for Heroes.
This will be a free concert with a retiring collection. Refreshments will be available during the interval and all profits will go to Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
The choir is looking forward to performing in Melksham and welcoming a full church on the night to enjoy an entertaining evening of music and song.
