A HUSTINGS will be held next week offering voters the chance to quiz the General Election candidates for the Chippenham constituency on the subject of climate change and environmental policies.
Taking part in the hustings on Thursday 28th November are Martha Anachury for the Labour Party, Helen Belcher for the Liberal Democrats, and Michelle Donelan for the Conservative Party.
The event is sponsored by Melksham Energy Group, Climate Friendly Bradford on Avon, Transition Community Corsham and Zero Chippenham.
Organisers say, “Hear our prospective MPs on the greatest challenge of our time. Press reports suggest that research shows a majority of people in the UK say the climate crisis will influence how they vote in the forthcoming General Election on 12th December, so the event will enable voters to hear first hand from each candidate who will be allocated a two to three minute slot at the commencement of the hustings to outline their parties policies.
“This will then be followed by a ‘Question Time’ format, with questions coming from the floor.
“To have the chance to ask a question on the night, members of the public are encouraged to send in climate-related questions to climatechampions@gmail. com no later than Monday 25th November.”
The event will be held at St Margaret’s Hall in Bradford on Avon on Thursday 28th November. Doors open at 7pm for 7.30pm.
