NEW plans have been announced to build 160 homes near Berryfield in Melksham and local people are invited to have their say at an exhibition from 4pm this Thursday.
The plan, revealed to Melksham Without Parish Council last week, could see 160 new homes built on fields south of the Western Way bypass, opposite the mobile home park on Semington Road.
The proposal will go on show to the public at the cricket pavilion in Melksham’s King George V Park on Thursday 15th December from 4pm to 8pm.
Developer Terra Strategic will be collecting feedback from local people at the event. The announcement comes seven months after permission was given for 150 homes and a village hall across the road, south of the mobile home park.
Wiltshire Council originally refused that application and described it as a “detrimental and unacceptable change in landscape character”. The council later approved the application.
The new development is not believed to be connected to the Melksham Link canal project, which will likely see hundreds more homes built on fields nearby.
