A Whitley Golf Club junior golfer has qualified for a European competition after impressing at a national championship. The event was held at one of the most famous golf courses in the world, St. Andrews.
Laura, 10, finished 13th overall in the national competition and shot the 5th best round on the second day, which ensured her place in the U.S Kids Gold European Championships which is due to be held in May 2015 at Gullane Golf Course in Scotland.
She qualified for the nationals after she won a Wee Wonders regional qualifier at Rhondda earlier this year.
Laura has been playing golf for two years. She lives in Shaw and attends Shaw Primary School, just next to Whitley Golf Club. She has been a member of Whitley Golf Club for the past year and a half and has been coached by PGA professional, Rob Morris, who provides excellent grounding for junior golfers.
