The Splash Pad will reopen for the summer season next month and will also host weekly sessions for anyone with special educational needs (SEN).
The facility in King George V Park will reopen on Saturday 2nd May from 10am to 5pm daily. Families can enjoy the Splash Pad for free with no booking required.
Dedicated SEN sessions will run each Wednesday from 10am to 11am, providing a quieter environment for children who prefer a calmer space.
Cllr Adrienne Westbrook said, “Once again Melksham residents can look forward to a summer in King George V Park with our free Splash Pad and enjoy care-free summer fun in the beautiful surroundings of our destination park right here in the centre of town.”
Earlier this year, Melksham Town Council voted to spend more than £26,000 to improve the efficiency of the Splash Pad after it was closed for 44 days last year due to hygiene issues, technical faults and safety concerns linked to newly installed flooring lifting.
The council’s amenities team has been working on a series of upgrades, including an improved dosing system to maintain a clean play environment and adjusted operating procedures to help the service run smoothly throughout the summer.
Operation will be weather dependent and the Splash Pad may close during poor conditions such as heavy rain, high winds or cold temperatures. Closures will be shared on Melksham Town Council’s Facebook page.
