We have had a busy autumn term at Aloeric.
In September we welcomed a new deputy headteacher and a new SENCO to the senior leadership team; they have both been enjoying getting to know our wonderful families. We have also welcomed another two new additions: a pair of guinea pigs! The children are currently having a competition to name them.
In September we were part of the Melksham 800 celebrations, and one of our pupils was chosen to present a commemorative mug to the Duke of Gloucester.
In October we collected for the local foodbank and participated in Harvest church services.
In November we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Fairtrade foundation by having a Fairtrade Bake Off. The children across the school baked and the panel of judges ate their way through a mountain of delicious cakes and biscuits. We presented the winners with prizes, and also sold the cakes to raise funds towards creating a Fairtrade logo flowerbed.
In December our football team reached the final and won a golden ticket to the Level 3 School Games Competition. The Friends of Aloeric have been organising brilliant festive events, including wreath making and the Christmas Fair complete with Santa’s Grotto. FS2 and KS1 will be performing their nativities and the whole school will participate in services at St Michael’s Church.
Our children have been lucky to have a selection of trips and visitors this term, including Adrian Townsend (the author) visiting to inspire writing in KS2, a visit to the Living Rainforest and a trip to the Roman Baths.
We are looking forward to more exciting learning in 2020!
