A PLANNING application has been made to build 50 homes on land west of Semington Road behind Townsend Farm.
The land, which is opposite the entrance to the Melksham Mobile Home Park, has been the subject of a number of similar planning applications in previous years.
The last application in 2018 by Tetlow King Planning to build 108 homes, was withdrawn following objections from Melksham Without Parish Council, local residents and Melksham Town Council.
And again, the application has already attracted criticism from local councillors, including Wiltshire councillor for Melksham South, Jon Hubbard, who has described the application as trying to “cram more housing into the area” without helping to meet the “shortfall in facilities in the town”.
Cllr Hubbard said, “I will be opposing this application. It makes no efforts to demonstrate how it will contribute towards the needs of our community, the applicant has made no effort to speak to the local community about their plans.”
The consultation is open until Friday 23rd October and a decision is expected by Friday 18th December. To view the plans and comment, visit the Wiltshire Council planning website and search using reference 20/07334/OUT – www. wiltshire. gov.uk/planning-applications-search
