MACHINERY and equipment from the Cooper Tires / Avon factory in Melksham is being auctioned off, following its closure in December last year.
The tyre factory on Bath Road closed in Melksham after 112 years, after Cooper Tires made the historic decision to conclude tyre production in the town. The factory was previously owned by Avon Tyres and had been at the heart of Melksham’s economic and cultural life for several generations, employing many thousands of people.
Cooper Tire & Rubber Company, Europe, announced plans in 2022 to close the Melksham site saying it was no longer competitive. Now, asset solutions company, New England, has been appointed to auction all used machinery, equipment, track bikes and alloys, via auctions which are now live on the company’s website.
“Our team is actively marketing and promoting all assets to ensure maximum exposure and participation,” says a spokesperson for the New England.
“Drawing upon our extensive database worldwide, the New England team provided strategic advice on the auction strategy. Our main priority is to maximise the value of the assets to generate as much income as possible.”
