It was yet another case of missed opportunities for BMCC as Box inflicted another defeat on the home side.
Box were asked to bat first and were soon struggling losing Page in the 2nd Over. Skipper Foley & Bultitude then set about patiently rebuilding the innings. Crucially Foley was dropped when he had reached 20 & this was to prove costly.
The pairs partnership had reached 50 when Bultitude departed for 26. This brought another experienced player in Dave Crawford to the crease. He and Foley started to up the run rate and their partnership had reached 102 when Foley departed for 71.
Sanchez & Crawford added 51 for the 4th wicket until Sanchez was run out for 17. Crawford was next to go for 80 as a flurry of late wickets left Box on a gettable 238 for 7.
Andy Footner was the only bowler to restrict the run rate with figures of 12-5-17-2.
The home side’s innings started with confidence with Steve Rendell especially punishing any loose bowling. The first wicket fell with score on 34, but Rendell continued to punish the bowling, but two quick wickets including Rendell’s for 38 reduced the home side to 61/3.
Where Box were able to build partnerships the home side weren’t, as only Chris Singh, 65, the only player to really trouble the scores as the innings closed on 160 all out.
