Socks are off for the hottest fundraiser of the year. Firewalk 2016 takes place at Dorothy House in Winsley at 6pm on Thursday 10th November and registration is now open for all those brave people who love a challenge.
This will be the fifth Dorothy House Firewalk where participants walk barefoot over 1000 degree F hot coals, cheered on by family and friends.
Celebrating its 40th birthday this year, Dorothy House Hospice Care, is an independent charity and its services are available free of charge so every penny of funds raised are essential to help them provide care when it matters most. Dorothy House provides palliative and end of life care across 700 sq miles, serving a population of 550,000 people across Bath and North East Somerset (BaNES), parts of Wiltshire and Somerset.
Jethro Knight was signed up by his sister as a surprise for his 30th birthday. He says, “I had no idea what it was all about until I arrived on the night. It was nerve wracking but the instructors were wonderful which eased my fears and I felt liberated afterwards. I would recommend it to everyone. Face your fears and just do it!”
Firewalk is a sponsored event and firewalkers are asked to pledge to raise a minimum £100 sponsorship or to make a donation of the same amount which will go towards Dorothy House Hospice Care’s vital end-of-life services. The Firewalk is limited to 50 places. All participants undergo a one-hour training seminar before they set foot on hot coals.
Entry costs £35 and is open to anyone aged 16 or over. To secure your place, download the registration form from www.dorothyhouse.org.uk/events/or call our fundraising team on 01225 721480. If you can’t take part but would like to support Dorothy House donations can be made via their website www.dorothyhouse.org.uk
