Charlie Radcliffe and Nick Suter both grabbed a brace of tries each in the eight try defeat of home team Calne on Saturday 15th November.
Melksham set out the start of their game with a push over try from Jack Briggs in the first five minutes conversion by returning Simon Foster. Radcliffe’s first came from a penalty quickly taken with the ball back into the charging forward. Suter was next to score with a ball taken against the head at the scrum. For the rest of the half Calne pressured Melksham on their line but a big defence effort held strong The half closing at 0-17.
Melksham continued to dominate the home team despite a determined opposition. Suter’s second taking the ball in support of a line break by Phil Stone. Foster adding the extras. Melksham winger Callum Gillard was next, striking out wide foster converting. Joe Hargreaves’s off the bench to make an impact going in for Melksham’s 6th. Radcliffe in for his second with the elusive Phil stone taking the final try to end the game 0-46.
Skipper Callum Hurn said, “We were composed in attack and defence throughout the game from the first whistle. Although Calne were robust and disruptive in attack we were able to absorb it and switch play to produce an advantage. Our focus was concentrated to produce the eight tries.”
