PUPILS at Forest & Sandridge CE Primary School have been trying their hand at gymnastics, attending Wiltshire School of Gymnastics as part of their PE lessons.
The year 5 children have been doing gymnastics over the last term and have had the chance to use the equipment and learn new skills, as the school looks to provide different opportunities for children outside of the classroom.
Vice principal of the school, James Mead, said, “PE is an important part of our curriculum at Forest and Sandridge. We recognise the importance of having a healthy lifestyle and exercising to support not only our children’s physical health but also their mental health and wellbeing.
“We strive to provide opportunities beyond the classroom for all children who attend our school. We believe it is our job to ensure all children, regardless of background, have access to a range of enrichment activities and experiences. When children are in year 5, they are able to attend Wiltshire School of Gymnastics for their PE sessions. The facilities and provision available to the children are far beyond what we can offer normally at school. The children have loved attending the gym over the course of the term and their skills within gymnastics have progressed rapidly due to the opportunities they have had at the Wiltshire School of Gymnastics.”
A spokesperson from Wiltshire School of Gymnastics said, “Here at the Wiltshire School of Gymnastics our aim is to give as many people as we can the opportunity to have a gymnastics journey. With recreational classes from babies through to adults, Gymability and our elite squads, we have something to cater for everyone.”
