TWO local women will be holding a football fun day in Melksham as they look to raise sponsorship money for a Cambodian trek in November in aid of Bath’s RUH.
Paula Lockyer and Lindsay Bown will be hosting the football tournament and barbecue at the Conigre this Saturday to raise money before they take on the 95km trek this autumn.
The fun day will start at 10am at the former Melksham Town ground. A local team will compete against players from a side from Bournemouth, and players from Melksham Town Youth will take part in a friendly 11-a-side match. There will also be entertainment from a football juggler, a barbecue, sporting activities, a visit from the Forever Friends bear, and a raffle. Entry is free and all are welcome.
Paula, a midwife at the RUH, and Lindsay, an ambulance service care assistant, will be raising money for the RUH’s Forever Friends Appeal’s Cancer Care Campaign.
Paula said, “We have both lost people close to us in the last two years who received treatment at the RUH. Most people will know somebody affected by cancer and we want to make a difference for those people who will need treatment for this disease in future.”
