NOW the summer holidays are here, you need to fill the days and Melksham Assembly Hall has an array of films to keep everyone entertained.
On August 7th, a film for all the family, Mr Holmes (PG). An aged, retired Sherlock Holmes looks back on his life, and grapples with an unsolved case involving a beautiful woman. Starring Sir Ian Mckellen as Sherlock Holmes. Tickets are £6 with a 7.30pm start.
One for the little ones (and probably a few adults), Two by Two (PG) will be showing on August 8th, 10.30am. It’s the end of the world, and a terrible flood is coming, set to wipe out all life as it is known. The good news is, a huge Ark has been constructed to save all the animals, which is great news to Dave and his son, Finny – two quirky creatures known as Nestrians. Adults £4 and under 15s £3.
Inspirational drama, starring Dustin Hoffman, The Choir, will be shown on August 21st, 7.30pm. When a recently orphaned twelve year-old boy (Garrett Wareing) is sent to an elite music school he struggles to fit in. No-one expects this rebellious loner to excel, least of all the school choir’s tough conductor (Hoffman), who enters into a battle of wills to bring out the boy’s extraordinary musical gift. Tickets £6.
