SUMMER’S here! And Melksham has another exciting programme of huge events lined up to entertain the whole family in the summer months.
The much-anticipated Melksham Carnival will take on Saturday 18th July. Preparations are under way for what is always a spectacular event with a parade of floats, live music, and displays from a number of local organisations. Details will be at www.melkshamcarnival.co.uk.
Running alongside the carnival on the same day is the Party in the Park, with a huge range of music and an extreme stunts show at the King George V park. Tribute acts Only One Direction, Zoe Alexander performing as Pink, and Rob-B-Williams have been confirmed, as well as original artists the Ukelele Light Orchestra, the rock band Purple Fish, local singing duo the Decibels, and saxophonist Lucy Harvey.
Local musicians Hangar 18, Courtney Buchanan, and Heather Kerr will also be stepping into the limelight. See www. melkshammusicfestival. co.uk for more information.

Melksham Comic Con, the increasingly popular sci-fi and comic book convention is shaping up to be the biggest ever. The two-day event will return to Melksham Assembly Hall on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th August. There is a growing number of guests and exhibitors scheduled to attend, including writers and artists John-Paul Bove, Mike Collins, and Lee Townsend, who have worked on projects including Transformers, Doctor Who, Superman, Batman, Ghostbusters, and many more.

The summer will then come to a head when two of the town’s biggest events combine to make the first Melksham Food and River Festival, which will be held at the King George V Playing Field on Sunday 6th September. The festival will combine the best of both the River Festival and the Food and Drink Festival to provide excellent local food and drink, plus some superb water-based activities and demonstrations on the river.
Boat rides and events will take place throughout the day while around 60 stalls provide samples of a range of great food and drink to try, as well as a range of activities for children including a bouncy castle, face painting and baby animals. Visit www.melksham foodfestival.weebly.com.
