Susan and Tony Horton, from Melksham RAFA, are thanking the public for helping them with another year’s successful Poppy Appeal collections.
Tony said, “We would like to thank all the people who donated into our Poppy collection pots. We were at ASDA for two days and Waitrose for three hours. We collected a grand total of £1,324.64, some of which was for knitted poppies that Sue had knitted.”
The couple are associated with 1940s re-enactment group the Blitz Buddies. Sue was dressed in a 1940’s WRENS uniform and Tony was dressed in a Home Guard uniform.
Sue and Tony commented, “It was nice for the public to come and talk to us and enquire about the uniforms and the 1940’s re-enacting events. We passed on some interesting facts and helped a few people with their enquires regarding medals for past family members.”
